Recently I've been playing a lot of a game called Exanima, which is basically a top down dungeon crawler that uses mouse physics for combat. Pretty challenging, but one of the little things I've really enjoyed is how some weapons such as battleaxes would have a spike or hammer on the opposite side of the blade, and with a press of the button you can actually use that side, often with notable effects such as a different moveset or just different damage type.
It's a really minor thing, but I've come to notice the lack of it a lot whenever I play other fantasy RPG's or hack-and-slash when you're given an axe or polearm that has a spike on the top or back of the blade, but you never use it and you just use it solely with the big choppy end.
So I wonder if there are other games out there that take the time to actually let you use every part of the weapon, or at least lets you flip it around, and have it meaningfully affect your gameplay. Bonus points if they let you use a poleaxe: i love using it in Exanima and its basically the perfect weapon to show how useful being able to switch between an axe or hammer when dealing with enemies.
